(London, ON) – With just under a year to go until London welcomes over 3500 athletes, coaches, and officials for the 2018 Ontario Summer Games, representatives gathered this morning at TD Stadium, on the campus of Western University to kick off the countdown and announce additional details on the Games. Joining the London 2018 Ontario Summer Games Host Organizing Committee was:

Announced today was the list of participating sports, with the most notable being Athletics, back in the Ontario Summer Games for the first time since 2010. The full list of sports is available below.

Also announced today was the opening of a Volunteer Expression of Interest, available on the London 2018 Ontario Summer Games website at www.london2018.ca. Those interested in volunteering at the Games and learning more information on the Games are encouraged to visit the website and complete a Volunteer Expression of Interest, which will notify you once volunteer recruitment officially begins. Approximately 1000 volunteers will be required.

The Ontario Summer Games is supported by the Ontario Government, through its Games Ontario program. This program delivers or supports multi-sport events, including the Ontario Winter and Summer Games for youth, the Ontario 55+ Summer and Winter Games, the Ontario ParaSport Games, the 2017 North American Indigenous Games and the 2017 Invictus Games.
Supporting Ontario sporting events is part of Game ON – The Ontario Government’s Sport Plan, which is encouraging as many people as possible to play organized sports, helping Ontario's high-performance athletes pursue excellence and promoting increased tourism and economic development.
