Volunteer Training Sessions Announced

Thank you to all those who’ve registered to volunteer at the London 2018 Ontario Summer Games, from Thursday, August 2nd to Sunday, August 5th, 2018. We are extremely proud to announce that we’ve reached 1000+ registrations and will not be accepting any new volunteer applications.

We are also thrilled to announce that CIBC and Western University are now the Official Volunteer Sponsors of the London 2018 Ontario Summer Games! Without their support, none of this would be possible and we look forward to working with them to put on this great program and making the Games a great experience for everyone involved.

As the Games are quickly approaching, it also means summer is here and so are summer vacations. All volunteers are required to attend ONE of three mandatory volunteer training sessions. We have organized these events over three different weeks in July to avoid conflicting with holiday plans. We’ve also scattered the training session venues across the city in hopes that everyone can find one close to home.

Please note that in order to volunteer and to participate in the training you MUST have a valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) completed.  If you have not supplied it already to 2018pvsc@gmail.com, please do so asap and/or bring your hardcopy to the training session. Those that have not submitted or provided their PVSC will not be accredited to volunteer.

The purpose of this training is to:

  • Distribute your volunteer kit, including t-shirt and accreditation
  • Ensure our volunteers know what to do / what not to do, where to go
  • Ensure all the volunteers know safety and emergency procedures,
  • Sign waiver and code of conduct forms

There are 3 dates and times as follows:

Tuesday, July 10th

Thursday, July 19th

Sunday, July 29th

If you are unable to attend one of these sessions, please email volunteer@london2018.ca asap so that we can take appropriate measures on an exception basis.

Thank you so much and we look forward to seeing you all at one of these three OSG volunteer training sessions!
